We’ve all read the articles about shampoo, conditioner and styling product build-up on the hair. Sure, you can go buy an expensive clarifying shampoo to strip the build-up, but why would you when you can use baking soda to do the same task? Simply grab your regular shampoo, and add a little more than the amount that you would normally use to a small cup.
Mix in an equal amount of baking soda, and mix as well as possible. You won’t get all the clumps out of the mixture, but try to get most of them out. Work the mixture through very wet hair, concentrating on the roots. Keep in mind that it will be difficult to work the mixture through your hair, especially if you have much length, but do the best you can.
Let the baking soda and shampoo mixture set on your hair for a few minutes and allow it to work. Then rinse well with warm (not hot) water. Once this is done, style as usual. You will find that your hair feels lighter, cleaner and is easier to work with. For those with long, thick hair, your hair will also be easier to brush out when wet.
